Kingston Frontenacs Extend Head Coach Troy Mann
General Manager Kory Cooper proudly announced today the extension of head coach Troy Mann’s contract with the Kingston Frontenacs Hockey Club for three more years. This new agreement ensures Mann’s seasoned expertise will guide the team from behind the bench through the 2026-27 season.
Mann, 54, began his coaching tenure with the Kingston Frontenacs on Friday, October 27th, 2023, leading the Black and Gold to a 4-3 victory over divisional rivals, the Oshawa Generals. Throughout the season, Mann’s stewardship propelled the Kingston Frontenacs to a record above .500 (33-31-4-0), securing them a playoff berth in the Eastern Conference.
“This is an exciting day for our organization and our fans. Troy’s history of player development and getting players to the National Hockey League is an asset to our current players, as well as a recruitment tool for making Kingston a destination for junior hockey players.” said General Manager Kory Cooper. “Troy is a structured, detail-oriented coach that communicates exceptionally well with the players. The entire coaching staff works well together as a cohesive unit. Getting Troy on a 3-year deal provides stability for our franchise and will be an instrumental part of us finding success both as a team and as individuals.”
Cooper continued “I would like to acknowledge Doug Springer and the Springer family for being willing to make a commitment of this magnitude. Without their commitment and support to provide a winning culture here in Kingston, a deal like this would not be possible.”
Prior to his tenure with the Frontenacs, Mann brought a wealth of professional coaching experience, having helmed teams in both the American Hockey League (AHL) and the ECHL. His previous roles include head coaching positions with the Columbia Inferno (ECHL: 2006-08), Bakersfield Condors (ECHL: 2013-14), Hershey Bears (AHL: 2014-18), and the Belleville Senators (AHL: 2018-2023). Throughout his career, Mann has accumulated over 400 wins as head coach of various professional teams, notably achieving a commendable 150-117-15-7 record in 289 games with the Belleville Senators.
“The Kingston Frontenacs are thrilled to have Troy Mann extended and leading our hockey club,” said Doug Springer, President, and Governor. “With Troy committed to Kingston on a multi-year contract, our team has the opportunity to thrive under his professional and seasoned leadership. Seeing the synergy between Troy Mann and Kory Cooper, and their shared vision for the team, should truly excite our fans.”
With a substantial portion of the 2023-24 roster set to return for the upcoming 2024-25 season, anticipation mounts to witness the continued growth and development under Troy’s seasoned leadership.
