2023 3rd Round Selection Xander Velliaris Commits to the Frontenacs
Kingston, Ontario – The Kingston Frontenacs Hockey Club is happy to announce the signing of defenseman Xander Velliaris to a Standard Player Agreement.
The Frontenacs used their 3rd round pick, 45th overall to select Xander during the 2023 OHL Priority Selection.
“Xander is a big, mobile defenseman who took major strides over the past season.” said GM Kory Cooper. “He has tremendous upside in his abilities, and we are looking forward to continuing his development as a player.”
Xander spent the 2022-23 season playing for the Toronto Jr. Canadiens of the GTHL. In 36 games, the 6’3”, 185 lbs. Toronto, ON native recorded 4 goals and 3 assists. He was able to play an effective defensive game without taking penalties, recording just two penalty minutes in the regular season. His season ended on a high note when his Toronto Jr. Canadiens won the OHL Cup with a perfect 7-0 record. Xander had 2 assists with a +8 rating, skating in all 7 games at the tournament.
