Firebirds Sign Free Agent Forward Anton Stackow
The Flint Firebirds announced on Thursday that they have signed free agent forward Anton Stackow to a Standard Player Agreement.
“It’s a great feeling to sign with the Firebirds,” Stackow said. “I’ve worked so hard to get to this point in my life, and this is just the beginning.”
Stackow was invited to Firebirds Training Camp the last two years, and made the 2026 preseason roster, where he played in two of Flint’s preseason contests. He has one goal in four games with the Waterloo Siskins in the GOHL this season.
Stackow spent the last two seasons playing prep hockey for Northwood School in Lake Placid, New York. He had 18 goals and 15 assists in 53 games last year. The Hockessin, Delaware native is a product of the Philadelphia Jr. Flyers AAA program.
SCOUTING REPORT FROM ASSISTANT GENERAL MANAGER & HEAD SCOUT MIKE OLIVERIO:
“Anton is a player with high-end hockey IQ. He anticipates the play and clogs lanes while forechecking aggressively. Anton has sneaky skill and speed along with good vision, giving him the ability to create offensively.”
Flint starts its first three-in-three weekend of the season on Friday, Oct. 23, in Saginaw against the Spirit. The second meeting this season for the I-75 Divide Cup presented by Coors Light is scheduled to start at 7:05 p.m. at the Dow Event Center.
