The Barrie Colts Are Proud to Announce the Contract Extension of Assistant Coach, Patrick Sexton
The Barrie Colts are proud to announce a contract extension for Assistant Coach Patrick Sexton, who will remain with the organization through the 2027–2028 season.
Sexton joined the Colts coaching staff ahead of the 2025–2026 season, bringing a wealth of experience in junior hockey and player development. His extension ensures continued stability behind the bench as the Colts build on their recent success and look toward the seasons ahead.
Before arriving in Barrie, Sexton spent the 2024–2025 season as an assistant coach with the Oshawa Generals. He previously spent three seasons as an assistant coach with the Penticton Vees of the British Columbia Hockey League (BCHL), helping the team capture the Fred Page Cup in 2022. He then served as head coach of the Coquitlam Express for two seasons, leading the team to the playoffs in both campaigns.
Sexton’s coaching experience is complemented by his own playing career. Originally from Ottawa, Ontario, he played four seasons as a defenceman between the Central Canada Hockey League and the BCHL. During his final season of junior hockey, he captained the Penticton Vees to a Fred Page Cup championship in 2015 before continuing his career at the University of Wisconsin, where he appeared in 33 NCAA games.
Having experienced junior hockey as both a player and a coach, Sexton brings valuable perspective to the Colts’ coaching staff. His background across multiple organizations and experience developing young players will continue to be an asset as Barrie works to compete at the highest level of the Ontario Hockey League.
The Colts are pleased to extend Sexton’s tenure with the organization and look forward to continuing their work together through the 2027–2028 season.
