Winterhawks Weekly: Road trip rolls on
The Winterhawks hit the road last week to open up a long road trip with games in Spokane and Kelowna, then opened up the new week with a back-to-back in Prince George. The road trip continues this week with a rematch in Spokane on Friday followed by a Saturday battle in Seattle.
Hot Hawks:
- Forward Gabe Klassen posted an assist in Spokane, then rattled home his team-leading 30th goal of the season in Kelowna on Saturday. The Hawks’ captain ranks second in team scoring with 58 points on the year.
- Defenseman Luca Cagnoni found the scoresheet in three of four games, chipping in assists on Wednesday and Saturday, then scoring Portland’s lone shootout goal on Monday and lone regulation goal on Tuesday.
- Goaltender Dante Giannuzzi picked up his second shutout of the season, stopping 30 of 30 shots in an eventual shootout loss to Prince George on Monday. The 20-year-old followed up with another 29-save showing on Tuesday to wrap up the back-to-back.
