Keep an eye on Winterhawks.com as each night nears for more information on each night. For now, here are a few highlights to look ahead to!
Opening Night – Friday, October 6 vs. Everett
After kicking off the season with three games on the road, the Hawks are back on home ice for a 2023 WHL Playoffs rematch against the Everett Silvertips! Come early and make sure you’re in your seats as the team is introduced to the Rose City faithful ahead of puck drop.
Portland Gear Keep Portland Fear’d – Friday, October 13 vs. Kamloops
A game on Friday the 13th in the heart of Spooky Szn? Say less! We’re celebrating all things freaky with the first installment of this year’s Keep Portland Weird series. Feel free to break out your Halloween costume early and get festive as the team sports specialty sweaters for the occasion. Stay tuned for more as the date approaches!
Les Schwab Teddy Bear Toss – Saturday, December 9 vs. Seattle
The best goal celebration of the year returns on Saturday, December 9 for a special rivalry match-up with Seattle! Bring your stuffed animals to the game and toss them onto the ice when we score our first goal – donated items will be collected and given to Portland-area non-profits ahead of the holiday season. Last year, you brought the noise for a sell-out game and helped us donate more than 14,000 stuffed animals – let’s raise the bar again in 2023!
Holiday Sweater Night – Saturday, December 16 vs. Spokane
After last season’s strong debut for Holiday Sweater Night, we’re excited to run it back this holiday season with a fresh design! Stay tuned as the date approaches for more information and a jersey reveal!
New Year’s Eve – Sunday, December 31 vs. Vancouver
Once again, the Winterhawks are excited to ring in the New Year with the best fans in the Western Hockey League. An earlier puck drop (5:00 p.m.) allows all fans to enjoy a fantastic night at the rink and still make it home in time to watch the clock strike midnight or enjoy an extended night out with friends and family.
If you need more plans, be sure to stick around after the game for music, a postgame skate, and a balloon drop. Some of the balloons will even have cash prizes!
Where’s Waldo Night – Saturday, January 6 vs. Prince George
We had so much fun during last year’s Where’s Waldo Night, we decided to make it an annual tradition! You know the look – red and white striped shirt and beanie, glasses and blue jeans – and now you get to rock it at a hockey game! We’re still targeting the world record of 4,626 people dressed as Waldo, so get your outfit set early and let’s make a little history, shall we?
Kid’s Day Game – Monday, January 15 vs. Kamloops
We’re once again hosting local elementary schools for a day of hockey and learning! Kids will take part in an educational experience on the concourse on the video screen while they cheer on the Hawks during a matinee tilt against Kamloops.
We realize this is an early start for a weekday game, so if you’re a Winterhawks Season Ticket Holder member, please remember that you can bank your tickets for use at a future regular season home game by contacting your ticket representative.
Mascot Night – Saturday, February 17 vs. Vancouver
Another fan-favorite night returns on Saturday, February 17 and Tommy is bringing out all of his friends! Mingle with Tommy and other local mascots throughout the evening and be sure to stay in your seats during the intermission for the annual grudge match hockey game between the mascots and the Junior Winterhawks!
Art Night – Friday, March 1 vs. Regina
A fresh introduction to the promo lineup, Art Night celebrates one of Portland’s most vibrant cultures – the art scene! On March 1, Saturday Market vibes will meet a Winterhawks hockey game for a colorful night in the VMC. Prominent Portland artists will be on-site to display and sell their art, and fans can keep a look out for some future collaboration with the artists!
Jack in the Box Glass Palace Night – Saturday, March 2 vs. Victoria
New name, same great views! Jack in the Box Glass Palace Night will feature the same incredible sights you love as we lower the curtains atop the VMC bowl, allowing for an outdoor-esque feel to the game. Puck drop is set for 6:00 PM on Saturday, March 2 for that one.
Hawkey For All Campaign
The Portland Winterhawks are committed to growing our great game of hockey while promoting inclusivity, diversity, and accessibility to help build a foundation for the future. ‘Hawkey For All’ is our way of connecting hockey to every person, giving back to our wonderful community, and educating our community on our sport.
We support any teammate, coach or fan who brings heart, energy and passion to the rink and we want to continue to build that environment at Veterans Memorial Coliseum. We believe hockey should provide a safe, positive and inclusive environment for players and families regardless of race, color, religion, national origin, gender identity or expression, disability, sexual orientation and socio-economic status.
Join us for five spectacular nights – Hawkey For All Night, Women of the Rose City Night, Pride Night, Kids Day and Black Hockey History Night – as we look to make sure everyone feels included in the Winterhawks family. Click here for more information and keep an eye on Winterhawks social channels for more details as we approach each night!
