TOM Announces His Retirement
On Monday, January 14th, Tom-A-Hawk released a statement that he was injured with an upper injury and was being monitored day-by-day. His injuries were unknown to the general public, but it was mentioned the Portland Winterhawks were searching for a temporary replacement following the announcement.
Today, TOM appeared in a press conference stating his injures were worse than he expected and he would be retiring today. The search for a replacement has began and we are looking at multiple candidates to take over the mascot position.
Tom-A-Hawk has been the Portland Winterhawks mascot for approximately 10 years. He has attended every home Winterhawks game, countless hospital visits, community appearances and events in the Portland area. He has been beloved by fans, and accepted by all. We will miss him dearly, but are excited for his retirement phase of life. On behalf of the Portland Winterhawks we wish him the best, and are looking forward to the future Hawks mascot.
