Adin Hill Named WHL Goalie of the Week
Portland Winterhawks netminder Adin Hill has been named the Western Hockey League’s Goaltender of the Week, and is the league’s nominee for the Canadian Hockey League Goaltender of the Week award.
Hill backstopped the Hawks to a sweep of their three games in three days over the weekend, including two shutouts.
Friday in Everett, he stopped all 31 shots he faced from the Silvertips to lead the team to a 2-0 victory, and followed that performance with 38 saves Saturday in a 5-4 road victory over the Tri-City Americans.
Hill capped the weekend with a 45-save shutout last night over the Brandon Wheat Kings, setting a team record for most saves in a shutout.
Hill already has three shutouts this season, a league-high and already a new career-high after just nine games. He ranks fourth in the WHL in save percentage (.937) and sixth in goals against average (2.13). Last season Hill led the WHL in save percentage with a mark of .921. Following the season he was selected in the third round of the NHL Draft by the Arizona Coyotes.
