The Portland Winterhawks are ready to bring the holiday spirit to the Rose City during the most fun game of the season – our 25th annual Teddy Bear Toss presented by Les Schwab! The Les Schwab Teddy Bear Toss is scheduled for Sunday, December 8, 2024 against the Vancouver Giants. Doors will open at 2:30 p.m. to accommodate the expected sold-out crowd and the five 1,000 fans will receive the second set of The Barbers Winterhawks trading cards.
The Teddy Bear Toss is a popular, holiday season promotion most common at junior and minor league hockey games. Fans are encouraged to bring new teddy bears or other stuffed toys to the game and throw them onto the ice when the Winterhawks score their first goal. It’s a celebration unlike any other in sports! All the furry friends are collected and donated as presents to greater Portland-area charities and hospitals ahead of the holidays.

This year, the collected teddy bears will be donated to Les Schwab charities, Portland Fire, Easterseals Oregon, the Salvation Army, Hillsboro Police Department, Rockaway Lions Club, Oregon Department of Human Services, and others!
Winterhawks fans helped donate over 35,000 teddy bears over the last three years, all while selling out the VMC. Bravo, Portland!
The Portland Winterhawks have held a Teddy Bear Toss game every season since 1998. It’s a unique opportunity to be part of the coolest goal celebration of the year!
