Warriors West To Take On Tigers
Warriors Sink Blades… 17-year-old rookie Ben Duperreault had two goals Saturday in Moose Jaw’s 5-2 win over the Saskatoon Blades at Mosaic Place. Bryson Gore, Torrin White, and Sam Fioretti had one goal each; Travis Brown and Jack Rodewald had two assists each; Tyler Bell, Todd Fiddler, and Brayden Point had one assist each; Justin Paulic made 23 saves in the win. Moose Jaw was 1-for-5 on the power play and 2-for-3 on the penalty kill.
2012-2013 vs. Medicine Hat… This is the first meeting of the season between the Warriors and Tigers. Last season the Warriors posted a 1-2-1 record against Medicine Hat, they were 1-0-1 at home and 0-2 on the road. Earlier this season the teams team up for a trade which saw Zach Hodder land in Moose Jaw and Daniel Wapple in Medicine Hat.

Curtis Valk led the Tigers with five goals and eight points against the Warriors; Elgin Pearce had two goals and eight points; Boston Leier had two goals and five points; Dylan Bredo had two goals and four points; Tyler Lewington and Hunter Shinkaruk had a goal and three points each; Logan McVeigh had two assists; Marek Langhamer was 0-1 with a 8.00gaa and .784sv%.
Home Grown Warriors… Moose Jaw currently has 25 players on their roster, 21 of them have grown up as a Warrior. 16 players were draft picks, while another five were listed players. There are five first round picks (Rielly, White, Point, Warkentine, Sleptsov), four second round picks (Potomak, Uhrich, Chirva, Sawchenko), Travis Brown was the only player taken in the 4th round, Tyler Brown was taken in the 5th round, Royce Rossignol and Tanner Eberle were selected in the 7th round, Ben Duperreault and Justin Paulic were 8th round picks, and Brandon Del Grosso was taken in the ninth round. Sam Fioretti, Bryson Gore, Dallas Valentine, Kirk Johnson, and Colton McCarthy were listed players. Tyler Bell, Todd Fiddler, Zach Hodder, and Jack Rodewald came to the team through trades.

Conexus Warriors & Legends Hall of Fame… The Moose Jaw Warriors have announced Lyle Odelein and Darryl Laplante are this year’s inductees into the Conexus Warriors & Legends Hall of Fame. They will be joined by Lyle Helland, who is being inducted in the builder’s category. The trio will be inducted October 17th and then honoured October 19th at Mosaic Place.Odelein played 189 games with the Warriors from 1985 to 1988, recording 33 goals and 163 points, which is third all-time among Warrior defencemen. We went on to play 19 years in the NHL, winning a Stanley Cup with Montreal in 1993. Laplante played in 212 games from 1994 to 1997, scoring 102 goals and finished with 208 points. He was drafted by Detroit in 1995, he played in the NHL and AHL from 1997 to 2002. Helland was a part of the original group who brought the Warriors to Moose Jaw in 1984, he served on the Board of Directors and has been a season ticket holder for 29 years.
Warriors Honour Canucks, Chelios Returns… Saturday, October 5th the Moose Jaw Warriors will honour the Moose Jaw Canucks and welcome back several alumni including Chris Chelios. The Canucks were one of the founding members of the WCJHL, which is known today as the WHL. The franchise began in 1934 and ended in 1984 when the Warriors moved to Moose Jaw from Winnipeg. Chelios played with the Canucks from 1979 to 1981, in 108 games he had 35 goals and 131 points. Chelios is a three time Stanley Cup champion and will be inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in November. During warm-up on October 5ththe Warriors will wear “Chelios Hockey Hall of Fame” jerseys, and then during the game they will wear special edition “Moose Jaw Canuck” jerseys. Both will be auctioned off with proceeds going to local charities.
