Warriors Sign Bowen & Willms

 Two players from the Okanagan Hockey Academy will be hoping that they continue to play together for the foreseeable future, but with the Moose Jaw Warriors.

2013 WHL Bantam Draft picks Ryan Bowen and Brody Willms signed WHL standard player agreements with the Warriors on Monday as they committed to playing in Moose Jaw in the future.

Bowen was taken in the fifth round, 94th overall, while Willms went in the eighth round, 161st overall.  

“I was real exciting when all this went down,” said Bowen, a 5-foot-8 135-pound forward.  “Couldn’t be more honoured to be a part of a great organization.”

Both players had strong training camps with the Warriors, making it through rookie camp to main camp and continuing their solid play.

“I just tried to battle through, it’s hard playing with big guys when you’re my size,” said Bowen.  “I just tried to be a little physical and compete hard.”

Bowen will be hoping to carry that over into his first WHL game on Tuesday in Swift Current against the Broncos.  “I’m just going to have some fun and show the coaches what I can do,” he said.

At OHA last season, Willms posted a 24-5-2 record and a 1.95gaa in 33 appearences, Bowen had 21 goals and 52 points in 55 games.
