Training Camp Roster Breakdown: 2003s
In the lead up to the Moose Jaw Warriors’ first training camp in two years, MJWarriors.ca will be breaking down the statistics of the 46 players invited to this year’s camp.
Training camp is less than a week away and the Moose Jaw Warriors will be welcoming in a group of 11 players in the 2003 age group.
That group includes the team’s two import players as well as seven players that saw game action last season in the Subway WHL Hub in Regina.
Keenan Allan – LW – 5’10, 185 lbs.
Allan was an eighth round selection by the Warriors in the 2018 WHL Bantam Draft, but has yet to suit up in a game for Moose Jaw.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Allan only played in three games last season with the Selkirk Steelers of the Manitoba Junior Hockey League. In 62 career games in the MJHL, Allan has three goals and nine points to go along with 33 penalty minutes.

Eric Alarie – LW – 6’1, 196 lbs.
The Warriors’ 2018 first round pick is heading into his third full season in Moose Jaw.
Alarie, a Winnipeg product, has scored 17 goals and posted 41 points in 82 career games with the Warriors.
Last season in the Subway WHL Hub, Alarie finished with a career-high 10 goals in 19 games. He added 10 assists for 20 points.
Alarie will be attending Florida Panthers’ development camp.

Robert Baco – RW – 6’3, 200 lbs.
Baco was selected by the Warriors with the 50th pick in the 2021 CHL Import Draft and will be making his debut in Moose Jaw this season.
Hailing from Kosice, Slovakia, Baco played nine games with the Karlovy Vary under-20 hockey club, posting two goals and six points. He finished with 18 penalty minutes and a minus-one rating.
Baco also played one game and registered one assist with HC Energie Karlovy Vary in the Czech Extraliga professional league.
In six games with Slovakia’s under-18 team, Baco posted two goals and four points.

Lucas Brenton – LD – 6’4, 193 lbs.
Brenton played in 23 of the Warriors’ 24 games in the Subway WHL Hub last season. He scored his first career goal and finished with three points, while posting a plus-four rating and two penalty minutes.
The Winnipeg product was originally drafted by the Warriors in the sixth round, 111th overall, in the 2018 WHL Bantam Draft.

Originally listed by the Warriors, Calvert suited up in all 24 games for Moose Jaw in the Subway WHL Hub.
Calvert finished with two goals and nine points in 24 games during the 2020-21 season. He has played in 37 career WHL games with his hometown Warriors.

Mirwald made his Warriors debut during the Subway WHL Hub after originally being selected in the seventh round of the 2018 WHL Bantam Draft.
Mirwald, a Saskatoon product, suited up in 16 games, putting up a 4-9-1-0 record to go with a 3.54 goals-against average and a 0.895 save percentage.

Niven made his debut with the Warriors in the Subway WHL Hub last season after signing with the team in Feb. 2021.
In 14 games, the Wawota product posted one assist, a minus-two rating and nine penalty minutes.

Martin Rysavy – RW – 6’3, 218 lbs.
Originally selected by the Warriors with the sixth overall pick in the 2020 CHL Import Draft, Rysavy will make his debut with the team this season.
Rysavy, born in Prerov, Czech Republic, was picked by the Columbus Blue Jackets in the seventh round, 197th overall, in the 2021 NHL Entry Draft.
Rysavy appeared in six games with HC Vitkovice during the 2020-21 season, while also playing 19 games with HC Prerov.
In nine games with the Czech Republic under-18 team, he finished with two goals, three assists, six penalty minutes and was minus-four.

Smith will be attending his first training camp with the Warriors after originally being selected by the Edmonton Oil Kings in the third round, 45th overall, in the 2018 WHL Bantam Draft.
Last season in nine games with Edmonton, Smith finished with one assist and a plus-two rating.

Wanner is entering his second full season with the Warriors.
In 17 games during the Subway WHL Hub last season, Wanner finished with four assists, a plus-two rating and 12 penalty minutes.
He made his Warriors debut during the 2019-20 season, posting one assist in five games.
The Estevan product was selected in the seventh round, 212th overall, of the 2021 NHL Entry Draft by the Edmonton Oilers.

The Warriors will open training camp on Tuesday, Sept. 7 with the first on-ice sessions on Wednesday, Sept. 8. All ice times are open to the public. The annual Black & White intrasquad game is set for Sunday, Sept. 11 at 4 p.m. at Mosaic Place.
