FLIGHT PATH | Warriors preparing for first of two home games this weekend
MOOSE JAW, Sask. – The Moose Jaw Warriors’ recent string of losses has extended to five games following a 6-2 loss to the Brandon Wheat Kings at the Temple Gardens Centre last Tuesday night.
In the loss, Nolan Paquette and Luke Moroz tallied goals for the Warriors. Moroz’s goal marked the first shorthanded marker of his WHL career. The Warriors went 1-for-3 on the penalty kill with a shorthanded goal and 0-for-4 on the power play. Jordan Switzer made 37 saves on 43 shots.
The Regina Pats come into tonight riding a three-game win streak. The Pats remain the last team in the WHL to be undefeated in their home arena. On Tuesday night, the Pats earned a decisive 3-0 shutout victory over the Everett Silvertips. That win marked their second shutout of the season.
In their last meeting, the Warriors fell 6-2 to the Pats at the Brandt Centre. After opening the scoring with a goal from Rasmus Kamarainen, the Pats struck back with a marker from Ossi Tukio. Riley Thorpe reinstated the Warriors’ lead just two minutes later. Trouble struck near the midway point of the second period, when the Pats tied the game and added their third to pull ahead. The Warriors’ struggles multiplied in the final two minutes of the second period when the Pats tallied three goals in just 62 seconds. The Warriors battled in the final frame, but were unable to overcome the deficit.
The Warriors are without standout rookie goaltender Dylan Mingo, who is representing Canada at the U17 World Challenge. Mingo and Team Canada White kick off their tournament on Sunday, November 1st at 1:30 pm when they take on Team Czechia.
Puck drop is scheduled for 7 pm. Tickets for the game can be purchased here. Follow along with the game action with James Gallo on Country 100.
