TIGERS SIGN BLAKE PENNER
The Medicine Hat Tigers are pleased to announce the official signing of Blake Penner.

Penner was the Tigers 1st round pick (18th overall) in the 2011 Western Hockey League Bantam Draft. The 5’ 10”, 170 lb Medicine Hat product played for the Notre Dame Hounds during the 2010-11 season, collecting 42 goals and 26 assists for 68 points in 24 games.
“We’re real excited to get him under contract and focused on moving forward this year and working on what he needs improve on to be a Tiger in the very near future,” said Tigers General Manager Brad McEwen.
“We just finished our Spring Camp and Blake played real well. He’s a smart player who plays hard, and he competed really well this weekend. His fitness level was good and his compete in the scrimmage was good and it made us realize that he certainly was the right pick at that time for us and we’re excited to have him as part of the Tiger family.”
Penner became the first Medicine Hat-born player to be selected by the Tigers in the opening round of the WHL Bantam Draft.
“We had him in our range and when he was there, we were certainly more than happy to pick him,” added McEwen. “He fits the Tiger mould; he’s not one dimensional. He plays in all areas and plays hard and that’s the kind of players we are looking for.”
It’s the type of player Tigers fans no doubt look forward to cheering for as well.
