Every year, the Medicine Hat Tigers proudly host their Annual Teddy Bear Toss game—one of the most heartwarming traditions of the season. As soon as the Tigers score their first goal, fans are invited to throw teddy bears and clothing items onto the ice, creating a magical flurry of generosity and joy.
The collected items are gathered by the team and distributed to local organizations that make a difference in our community, including the Medicine Hat Health Foundation, the Medicine Hat Women’s Shelter, the Salvation Army, and the Santa Claus Fund.
This incredible event showcases the spirit of giving and highlights the positive impact of our fans’ generosity throughout Medicine Hat.
On December 7, 2024, the Medicine Hat Tigers took on the Edmonton Oil Kings in this year’s Annual Teddy Bear Toss game. It was a moment to remember when Liam Ruck scored the goal that sent the teddy bears soaring onto the ice, igniting a wave of generosity from our incredible fans.
The Tigers organization collected an astounding 2,620 stuffed animals and 2,258 winter wear items, all of which will help spread warmth and joy throughout our community this holiday season.
As part of this cherished tradition, the Teddy Bear Toss goal scorer Liam Ruck and his brother Markus Ruck, along with team captains, made a special visit to the Medicine Hat Regional Hospital’s paediatrics ward to deliver teddy bears to young patients. Representing the team were Captain Oasiz Wiesblatt and Alternate Captains Hunter St. Martin, Bryce Pickford, Josh Van Mulligen, Andrew Basha, Mathew Ward, and goaltender Harrison Meneghin.
This annual visit brought smiles and joy to the children and their families, highlighting the true meaning of the season.
Thank you, Medicine Hat, for your incredible generosity and unwavering support!
