Tigers Over Prince Albert In Emotional Outing
Medicine Hat, AB – It was an emotional night for all in attendance and all the participants in last night's 4-0 Tiger win over the Prince Albert Raiders.
For Tiger players and management it was not just another exhibition game, but a chance to fulfill a dream for a long-time Medicine Hat resident who has given so much to the game of hockey in the Gas City.
Tony Aasman (pictured – center), who was the Tigers guest coach, was instrumental in the Tigers win, while also getting a chance to coach against his son Ryan. Ryan Aasman is a highly touted defenceman on the Raiders roster, who Tony coached for many years in Medicine Hat.
The Tigers managed to jump out to a 2-0 lead after the first period as Tristan King and Linden Vey both scored for Medicine Hat.
The lone Tiger goal in the second period was fired home by Bretton Cameron before Joey Frazer scored midway through the third period to ice the victory for the Tigers.
Rookie netminder Tyler Bunz, with 10 saves, and Ryan Holfeld shared in the shutout win. Holfeld stopped all nine shots he faced.
Medicine Hat was 1 for 4 with the man advantage, while killing off all four power plays by the Raiders.
The Medicine Hat Tigers would like to thank the nearly 2800 fans in attendance and the Prince Albert Raiders Hockey Club for their support of the Aasman family.
