TIGERS FALTER IN FINAL VS REBELS
The Medicine Hat Tigers travelled to Red Deer to take on the Red Deer Rebels in the eighth and final meeting of the season between these two Central Division Rivals. This game would mark the return of both forward Noah Danielson and goaltender Beckett Langkow, who have both missed time with injury. Langkow would get the nod from Tigers Head Coach and GM Willie Desjardins, while Chase Coward got the start for the Rebels.
It was uneventful first period with both sides taking a single penalty each until the 20th minute when the Tigers Bogdans Hodass and the Rebels Kalan Lind were each given two minutes as time expired in the frame. Langkow was solid in his return stopping all 10 shots sent his direction.
The Tigers spent much of the middle frame short handed, taking three consecutive minor penalties. Langkow and the defence would hold though, keeping things scoreless until 14:05 of the 2nd period when WHL leading scorer Arshdeep Bains netted his 35th goal of the season. Carter Anderson and Ben King were credited with the assists on the play.
The Rebels extended the lead to two when Jhett Larson was able to get the puck passed Langkow only 2:36 into the final frame. Hunter Mayo and Arshdeep Bains had the assists on the scoring play.
Just under six minutes later the Rebels would put the game on ice when Matteo Fabrizi extended the lead to 3-0. Hunter Mayo got his second assist of the night and Liam Keeler was credited with the secondary assist.
Make the final 3-0 in favour of Red Deer. Beckett Langkow earned the games third star and stopped 40 of 43 shots sent his way.
The Tigers are back in action tomorrow night when they host the Calgary Hitmen at Co-op Place. Doors open at 6pm and the puck drop is set for 7pm.
