A four goal second resulted in a fourth win in a row for the Medicine Hat Tigers.
On Saturday night before a sellout crowd of 4,006 spectators at The Arena, the Tigers turned a 1-0 edge after 20 minutes into a 5-1 edge after 40 minutes over the Moose Jaw Warriors. The hosts then cruised to a 6-1 victory and also extended their winning streak to four games.
“I thought it was a great start,” said Tigers head coach and general manager Shaun Clouston. “I thought for our fourth game in five nights the guys played hard the whole way through.
“I thought we had some real good stretches, and I thought we had some great performances from a lot of different players.”
The Tigers went ahead 1-0 just 16 seconds into the contest, as captain Curtis Valk potted his 34th goal of the season.
The hosts were held at bay until scoring three times in a span of 3:07 shortly before the 10-minute mark of the second. Steven Owre, Chad Labelle and Anthony Ast all netted singles in the outburst.
