Emerson Etem was happy to be back and share some chuckles.

The standout right-winger wrapped up playing for the United States at the world junior hockey championships on Wednesday. He arrived back in Medicine Hat on Thursday getting to The Arena halfway through the Tigers’ morning practice.

He had a laugh with his teammates on the ice and joked around with players, trainers and coaches when the main part of practice wrapped up.

Etem had ample time to reason with the fact the United States was eliminated from medal contention even before its last round robin contest against Canada. The Americans won their two games in the relegation round to finish with a 3-3 overall record.

“Going into the Canada game, we knew that we weren’t going to play for a medal,” said Etem. “We gave it our all in that game.
“We came back, and we were a .500 team at the end of the tournament. We battled back.”
