TIGERS TAKE ON CANES
Lethbridge, AB — The Medicine Hat Tigers hit the highway and headed west to Lethbridge for the final time this season to take on the Hurricanes. This would be veteran forward Logan Barlage’s final game in the windy city after appearing in 217 games for the Hurricanes. Beckett Langkow got the start for the Tigers while Jared Picklyk got the tap for the ‘Canes.
Medicine Hat got out to the start they were looking for 6:49 in to the 1st period when Logan Barlage found a wide open Rhett Parsons. Parsons makes no mistake, beating the Lethbridge netminder to give the Tabbies the 1-0 lead.
That’s all the scoring the period would offer, but Tigers netminder Beckett Langkow was rock in net turning aside 23 first period shots.
The Tigers would extend their lead to two only 0:35 seconds into the middle frame when Brayden Boehm found some open ice and managed to tuck the puck under Picklyk for his seventh goal of the season to make it 2-0 Tigers. Logan Barlage and Rhett Parsons each picked up their second points of the night on the scoring play.
Lethbridge would keep the pressure on and solve the puzzle that is Langkow, netting four straight goals from Tyson Laventure, Brayden Edwards and a pair from Alex Thacker in the middle frame to give the Hurricanes the 4-2 lead at the break.
Hayden Smith extended the Hurricanes lead to three 5:24 seconds into the third period when he picked up a loose puck in front of the net and put it in the back of the cage to make it 5-2
The Tigers would close the gap again at the 13:36 mark of the final frame, when Tigers rookie defenseman Josh Van Mulligen used the Hurricanes defender as a screen and ripped the puck bar top shelf to beat Picklyk to claw the Tabbies back to within two.
Lethbridge put the game on ice just over a minute later when Kade Nolan notched his fourth of the season, making the score 6-3 in favour of Lethbridge.
The Tigers are back on home ice tomorrow for the rematch in this home and home series. The Tigers will also honour the Legendary voice of the Tigers, Bob Ridley in a night long celebration.
