Wheat Kings 3 Pats 1
It was a great start by the Regina Pats in their home opener, as Myles Bell’s point shot threaded the needle through a crowd for his second of the season and a 1-0 lead after the 1st. The first also saw the rivalry heat up as Brandon Davidson took on Mark Stone in a battle of unlikely combatants, folowed with a mini line brawl after a Ryley Miller hit from behind on Garrett Mitchell.
It was all Brandon in the second as Brandon outshot the Pats 14-7 and outscoring them 2-0 on goals by Brendan Walker and Paul Ciarelli for the 2-1 lead after 40.
The Pats pressed in the 3rd, dominating on the shot-clock 12-3, but Mark Stone’s goal at the 10:52 mark clinched it for Brandon.
Ty Rimmer stopped 26/27 shots, while Damien Ketlo kicked away 27/30 shots.
