Regina Pats Go Pink For Breast Cancer Awareness
Regina, Saskatchewan – The Regina Pats are pleased to announce their October 21 home game versus the Spokane Chiefs will be Breast Cancer Awareness Night in association with Imagination Ink in support of the Canadian Cancer Society. To recognize this special game, every rink board and stanchion (holds the glass on the boards) on the ice will be pink.
“As an organization, this game is one we really look forward to,” said Pats President Todd Lumbard. “Cancer touches so many lives and being able to raise some money and awareness about this disease is important for the Regina Pats.”
For the month of October, goaltender Tyler Brown has been wearing a specially designed pink themed goalie mask. The Pats have been selling raffle tickets at home games and through the team’s office, with net proceeds going to the Canadian Cancer Society. The draw for the mask will be made during the October 21 game.
The Regina Pats have been selling a limited quantity of pink themed mitts for $20 a pair. Limited quantities are still available by visiting the Neutral Zone Pats Authentic Sportwear Store on the east side of the Brandt Centre. A portion of those proceeds will also go to the Canadian Cancer Society who will be on hand selling goalie mask raffle tickets, pink ribbons, Thing-A-Ma-Boob key chains and collecting donations.
“Last year 710 women in Saskatchewan were diagnosed with breast cancer and 160 lost their lives to the disease. We value our partnership with the Regina Pats. Their support helps educate women about the importance of screening and early detection of breast cancer,” said Keith Karasin, Executive Director of the Canadian Cancer Society, Saskatchewan division.
