The Trans-Canada Clash Gets Green
Game Sponsor: Mosaic
Head-to-Head
The best rivalry in junior hockey moves to the Brandt Centre for the first time this season as the Regina Pats (7-8-0-0) face off with the Moose Jaw Warriors (6-8-1-2) on “Rider Pride Night” presented by Mosaic. Boston Leier leads the Pats against Moose Jaw with three points (1G, 2A) this season and Morgan Klimchuk has goals in both prior contests. Travis Brown continues to lead the Warriors in overall scoring (21PTS), and has two points (1G, 1A) against the Pats this year. Regina is currently on a three game slide after a pair of losses to Prince Albert and one to Edmonton. The Warriors have struggled in their last ten games, only winning twice, but earning points in five of those ten. This evening’s game can be heard on 620 CKRM starting at 6:35 p.m.
Rider Pride Night Presented by Mosaic
The Pats put aside the Blue and White for the Green and White tonight and look to turn the Brandt Centre into a “Sea of Green”. Riders players and personnel will be in attendance for a pre-game puck drop and to cheer on the Pats. Fans can also enjoy 2-for-1 hot dogs at Brandt Centre Concessions. For tickets, visit Ticketmaster.ca or the Brandt Centre Box Office. For Group Tickets, call the Pats Office at 306-337-1538.
Lead Up: Cheveldave Stymies Pats in 3-1 Loss
The Raiders worked themselves out to a 3-0 lead after two periods, and though the Pats pressed in the third, they wouldn’t be able to get any closer than a two goal deficit in a 3-1 loss. Dyson Stevenson redirected Stephen Hak’s point shot past Cole Cheveldave, who was the game’s first star, to break the shutout.
All but One
Chandler Stephenson has points in all but one game he has played in this season. The Washington Capitals prospect was shut out October 23rd against Prince Albert, but got right back on track with a goal and an assist in the Pats loss to Edmonton a couple of days later. Stephenson is tied for the team lead with 19 points (8G, 11A) which is good for a tie for sixteenth in the WHL.
Back in Action
The Pats back-end is coming out of some injury trouble with two defencemen coming back to the active roster. Tye Hand (’95) was playing top four minutes when he went out of the lineup and led the WHL in penalty minutes. The Pats look for the rugged defender to bring his physical brand back to blue-line. Rookie defender Brady Reagan earned his first WHL point October 14th. Both players could return to the game lineup this week.
Streaky
The Pats haven’t done much in the way of alternating wins and losses. The Pats have only logged alternating results (L, W, L – Sept. 21-27) once this season, while reaching three or more wins/losses three times this season.
Who to Watch on Moose Jaw
The Warriors called up 16-year-old Jayden Halbgewachs from the Regina Pat Canadians of the SMAAAHL for tonight’s game. Halbgewachs leads the Pat Canadians with six goals and 15 points in nine games this season.
