Regina Pats Donate $20,000 to Jays Care Foundation
Regina, Saskatchewan –Today, the Regina Pats Hockey Club presented the Jays Care Foundation with a cheque for $20,000. The money was raised during an on-line auction of game worn/ready Jay’s themed hockey jerseys. A limited number were available for sale, as well.
The Pats wore the special uniforms January 6 versus Calgary, on Blue Jays Night. Regina won the game 6-2. Also in attendance was Jay’s outfielder Ezequiel Carrera. He took part in a ceremonial puck drop and signed autographs for fans. Carrera also spent time in the community having lunch at Victoria’s Tavern and getting his hair cut at Ragged Ass Barbers.
“Toronto Blue Jays Night was a special evening for our fans,” said Pats President Todd Lumbard. “Not only did we win the game but our fans stepped up in a big way to support the Jays Care Foundation. This is an example of what can happen when Canada’s oldest junior hockey team and an iconic Canadian sports brand team up.”
The WHL’s leading scorer, Sam Steel, had the top selling jersey on the night at $1800. Team Captain Adam Brooks came in second at $1550. He narrowly edged out newcomer Wyatt Sloboshan whose jersey sold for $1500.
