RECAP: de Wit’s hattrick leads Pats to victory in pre-season opener
Jeff de Wit scored a hattrick to lead the Pats to a 5-3 win over the Saskatoon Blades in their pre-season opener on Thursday night. de Wit scored once in each of the three periods while Egor Zamula and Tristen Robins provided the rest of the offence. The Pats led 1-0 after one, 3-2 after two and added two more in the third to salt away the victory. Max Paddock started in goal for Regina and in just over 30 minutes of work, made 22 saves on 23 shots. Kurtis Chapman did the rest stopping 12 of 14. Regina outshot Saskatoon 41-37, the powerplay was one for eight and the penalty kill a perfect four for four. The Pats will continue the pre-season on Saturday at the Brandt Centre against the Moose Jaw Warriors at 7 p.m.
