Ben Wright

Wright was the Hurricanes first pick in the 2003 WHL Bantam Draft and was drafted by the Columbus Blue Jackets in the 4th round (113th overall) of the 2006 NHL draft. In 07-08 he was named the 17th captain in Hurricanes history, following in the footsteps of such former blue line Captains as Jamie Pushor and Brent Seabrook. The native of Foremost, Alberta remains the backbone of the Hurricanes defensive corps. Wright joined Zach Boychuk as a selection for Team WHL at the 2007 ADT Canada Russia Challenge and was the winner of the 2007-2008 Most Popular Player Award as voted by the players. Wright was also named the co winner of the Hurricanes Top Defenseman Award and the Harry Ingarfield Memorial Award for the Hurricanes MVP.
