Pats Try for Split on Road Swing Against Tigers
Head-to-Head
The Pats make their second trip to the Medicine Hat Arena this evening. Their first visit saw Hunter Shinkaruk tally four points in the Tigers’ 5-1 victory. Lane Scheidl had the lone Pats marker in the loss. Heading into tonight’s contest the Pats come off a lopsided loss to the Hurricanes while the Tigers exploded for a 10-1 win over Calgary. Tonight’s game can be heard on 620 CKRM with the Press Box Sports Bar Pre-Game Show starting at 6:35.
Lead Up: Pats vs Hurricanes
The Hurricanes scored early and often to power their way to a 6-1 victory over the Pats Friday night. Lethbridge scored four goals in the first period, and outshot the Pats 55-29 through sixty minutes of play. Matt Hewitt was excellent in relief of Teagan Sacher, stopping 33 of 35 in the final forty minutes. Colten Mayor scored the Pats single tally on the night.
Against the Tigers
Lane Scheidl leads the way for the Pats against the Tigers this season, scoring the lone goal in the first meeting of the season. He and Dyson Stevenson also lead current Pats in points against the Tigers from last season with three in four games against Medicine Hat.
Double Barrel Goalkeepers
After appearing in 60 games last season, Matt Hewitt may be in line to get some help in 2012-13 as Teagan Sacher has already played in seven games, six of those starts. The Pats coaching staff can feel comfortable in either option with Hewitt sporting a 2.94 GAA and 0.915 Sv% and Sacher featuring a 3.38 GAA and 0.880 Sv%
Hot Line
The line of Emil Sylvegard, Colten Mayor and Lane Scheidl is on a roll right now. Sylvegard is on a four game point streak (1G, 3A), Mayor has points in his last three (2G, 2A) and Scheidl has two goals and an assist in his previous two.
