Pats Prospect Vaughan Invited To Canada’s 2022 Men’s U17 Development Camp
Regina, Sask. — Regina Pats 2006-born prospect Jaxsin Vaughan has been named to Canada’s roster for the 2022 men’s U17 Development Camp, which is set to take place July 10-16 at the Markin MacPhail Centre at WinSport’s Canada Olympic Park in Calgary, Alta.
“It’s definitely exciting to see your name up on that list,” Vaughan said. “I’ve worked pretty hard this season to get where I am and [I’m going to] continue to push that and get better.”
Vaughan, 16, was selected by the Pats in the first round, 21st overall, in the 2021 WHL Prospects Draft. The Merritt, B.C. product made his WHL debut on December 27, 2021 against the Edmonton Oil Kings after signing that same day, and went onto play six games with the Pats as a call-up. The 6-foot, 185 lb. forward tallied 19 goals and 18 assists for 37 points in 32 games at the RHA in Kelowna last season. He is the twin brother of Pats prospect Corbin Vaughan.
Of the 100 players invited to participate, 37 are WHL prospects. For the duration of the week-long camp, the players – 10 goaltenders, 30 defencemen and 60 forwards – will be split into five teams for on- and off-ice training, fitness testing, practices, intrasquad games and classroom sessions.
