The Lowdown
Tonight is the back half of the Pats and Warriors home and home series. 24 hours ago, the Warriors scored twice in the second period en route to the 3-1 win. Damien Ketlo stopped 43 of 45 Warrior shots and was named the game’s second star, while Garrett Mitchell picked up the lone Pat goal.
Things are a little more interesting this season with former Warriors General Manager, Chad Lang, now holding the same role with the Regina Pats as well as the addition of 20 year old forward Thomas Frazee from the Warriors in late September.
Watch WEBTV:
Tonight’s game is pre-empted tonight because of the Riders final regular season game against the Edmonton Eskimos. You can catch the game by going to whl.ca and purchasing the game off of WEBTV, or head to The Press Box to watch it on one of their big screen TV’s.
On the Warpath:
The Warriors are currently riding a 4 game winning streak. One spot where the Warriors are vulnerable is killing penalties; they are dead last in the WHL at 73.0%.
Subway Super Series:
A pair of Pat players was named to play for team WHL on November 17th in Kamloops against a Russian National Team. Carter Ashton will make his second appearance in the series he played as a member of the Lethbridge Hurricanes last season, while Jordan Weal is playing in his first game.
Throw out the 2nd
Over the past two games, the 2nd period has been the downfall for the Pats. A week ago the Chiefs scored 6 times on 26 shots, while last night, the Warriors poured 27 shots on Damien Ketlo, but could only crack him twice. Those two periods have been the difference in the two games for the Pats
Next Action:
The big weekend continues tomorrow with the final game of the three games in as many nights stretch. The Brandon Wheat Kings will visit the Brandt Centre for the first time since opening weekend. Dallas Stars 1st round pick from 2009, Scott Glennie will bring his young Wheatties into town for a 6pm start.
