Pats Begin Pre-Christmas Home Stand

Regina, Saskatchewan – The Regina Pats (15-13-2-2) matchup with the Kamloops Blazers (14-10-3-1) tonight at the Brandt Centre (7 p.m.).  It’s the lone meeting of the season between the two teams.  Last year’s game saw the Pats roll to a 7-3 victory in Kamloops.  Former players led the way in that contest with Dryden Hunt notching five assists in the win.  Returning Pats are led by Jared McAmmond who picked up a goal in the game.  Tyler Brown picked up the win in net.  The Pats come in with points in back-to-back games, but following a 2-1 shootout loss to Saskatoon.  Tonight’s game can be heard on 620 CKRM beginning at 6:35 p.m.

It’s Taco Tuesday at the Brandt Centre.  Taco-in-a-Bag are two for $10 at Brandt Centre concessions until the start of the second period.

Despite holding the lead after forty minutes and losing in Saskatoon on Sunday and getting good scare from Lethbridge in the third period of Saturday’s game, the Pats are quite reliable when leading through two periods.  The Pats hold a 10-1-0-1 record when leading after forty minutes.  Holding the lead at any break seems to go well for Regina with points in all ten opportunities at 9-0-0-1.

Forward Sean Richards turns 17 today.  The rookie is one of three first-year Pats with a December birthday.  Also coming up this month are Lane Zablocki (Dec. 27) and Jake Elmer (Dec. 31).  With the The Blue and White feature five players on the roster with ‘late’ birthdays.  Chase Harrison and Taylor Cooper round out the list.

After not facing a shootout until their 28th game of the season, the Pats have dropped two shootout games in their last five.  The penalty shots have been something of a nuisance for the Blue and White.  Going back to last season, the Pats have lost five straight shootouts and haven’t scored on their previous 20 shootout attempts.
