Liam Schioler Joins Pats
Regina, Saskatchewan – The Regina Pats Hockey Club announced today defenceman Liam Schioler (’98) has signed a WHL Standard Player Agreement with the team and will be in the lineup for tonight’s game against the Saskatoon Blades.
Liam Schioler was the Pats’ second round pick (28th overall) in the 2013 WHL Bantam Draft. The 6’3”, 200 lbs defender is a native of West St. Paul, MB but played his midget hockey at Shattuck St. Mary’s in Minnesota. He played in 110 games while picking up 31 points (4G, 27A) to go with 144 penalty minutes.
Schioler started this season with the Lincoln Stars of the USHL. The 17 year old suited up for 22 games with the Stars while posting three assists and 21 penalty minutes. While in Lincoln, Schioler was rated as a ‘C’ skater by the Central Scouting Service on the September and November ‘Watch List’ for the 2016 NHL Entry Draft.
The Blue and White also announced the team has recalled under-age defenceman Dawson Barteaux from the Yellowhead Chiefs of the MMHL. Barteaux was the teams’ first round pick (14th overall) in the 2015 WHL Bantam Draft. The Foxwarren, MB product has 11 points (3G, 8A) in 19 games this season.
