Key Game for Pats in Kamloops

Regina, Saskatchewan – The Regina Pats (14-10-1-0) enter the final weekend of their B.C. Division road trip starting with a matchup against the Kamloops Blazers (11-11-3-2).  Last season’s lone meeting saw a wild contest end as a 4-3 shootout win for the Blazers at the Brandt Centre.  Dryden Hunt led returning Pats in that game with a goal and an assist.  On the other side, Cole Ully had a goal and two assists in the win.  Coming into tonight’s game, the Pats got back in the win column with a  5-2 victory over the Cougars on Wednesday while the Blazers have lost two in a row.  Listen to tonight’s contest on 620 CKRM with Home Depot Pats Hockey starting at 8:35 p.m. CST.

Lead Up: Pats Back on Their Game with 5-2 Win Over Cougars
The Blue and White looked more like the Pats team fans have become accustomed to Wednesday night.  They got on the attack early with Adam Brooks scoring the opening marker on a 3-on-2 didn’t look back from there.  Morgan Klimchuk scored twice with Sam Steel assisting on both.  Connor Gay and Sergey Zborovskiy also added singles in the 5-2 win.

Racking Up the Kilometres
The Pats enter the homestretch of the B.C. road trip tonight with a 2-1-0-0 record through the first three games.  They’ve also put plenty of kilometres on the odometer.  At this point of the trip, the Blue and White have traveled roughly 3,360 km starting from Regina.

Familiar Face
The Pats take on a known quantity tonight in Logan McVeigh.  The overage forward was acquired by the Blazers after the Blue and White released McVeigh at the Overage Deadline.  Since joining Kamloops, McVeigh has nine points (3G, 6A) in fifteen games in Kamloops.  McVeigh had nine points (4G, 5A) in 26 games for the Pats last season.

Setting the Pace
With another two points Wednesday night, Connor Gay continues to set the pace for the Pats when it comes to tallying points.  The Saskatoon product now has 27 points (10G, 17A) in 25 games.  That 1.08 points per game pace has Gay trending toward a 77 point season (over 72 games) which would be nearly double his 43 points in 61 games total from the 2013-14 season.
