Former Pat Marincin Heading to Sochi

Regina, Saskatchewan – The 25-man roster representing Slovakia in the Men’s Hockey Tournament was announced this morning and features Edmonton Oilers defenceman and former Pat Martin Marincin.

One of the youngest players on Slovakia’s roster, Marincin was called up from the AHL’s Oklahoma City Barons by the Oilers and played his first NHL game December 5th.  Since then, the former Pat and Prince George Cougar has played in seven games for the Oilers and features a plus two rating over that stretch.

Marincin was acquired by the Pats at the trade deadline of the 2011-12 season and tallied 23 points in 28 Regular Season games for the Blue and White to go with two goals in five playoff games.

Slovakia opens the Olympic tournament February 13th against the United States before facing Slovenia and Russia in Group A action.

Marincin and his teammates will look to improve on Slovakia’s fourth place finish in Vancouver in 2010, its highest in Olympic Ice Hockey.
