Familiar Faces Abound in Pats-Tigers Matchup
Regina, Saskatchewan – The Regina Pats (25-14-2-1) start their run through Alberta against the Medicine Hat Tigers (29-10-1-1) at the Medicine Hat Arena (8 p.m. CST). It’s the second time the teams have met this season with the Pats taking the first contest by a 6-2 score. Now a member of the Tigers, Dryden Hunt led the Pats with a hat-trick. Sam Steel leads current Pats with a goal and an assist against Medicine Hat. Cole Sanford is the top Tiger with a goal and an assist versus the Pats. Coming into tonight’s game, the Pats have dropped two straight including Saturday’s 6-5 loss to Prince Albert. Lead Up: Pats Comeback Falls Short in 6-5 Loss
The Pats and Raiders started things out with a bang when the teams combined for seven first period goals, leaving the Raiders ahead 4-3. The visitors scored twice in the second to lead 6-3 in the final frame. Adam Brooks scored to cut into the lead and Taylor Cooper’s hat-trick goal made it a one goal game, but the Pats would fall short in their comeback bid.
Familiar Faces
Tonight marks the first game the Pats face off against former teammates in Kyle Burroughs and Dryden Hunt. The two 19-year olds combined for 383 games wearing the Blue and White over their careers playing in Regina. Burroughs and Hunt were traded for defenceman Connor Hobbs and draft picks.
Making an Impression
Taylor Cooper picked up his first points as a Pat in a big way, tallying a hat-trick and adding an assist in his third game with the Blue and White. The hat-trick was the second of Cooper’s WHL career and his four point night. Cooper was acquired by the Pats in a trade with Lethbridge for Brady Reagan.
Berg Called Up
The Pats have recalled 17-year old forward Adam Berg from the Calgary Mustangs of the AJHL. Berg, a list player of the Pats, is second on the Mustangs with 25 points (12G, 13A) in 38 games. Berg was recently named as a player to participate in the CJHL Prospects Game and was listed as a ‘C’ player in the November CSS Watch List.
