CANADA WINS UNDER-18 GOLD
SOCHI, RUS – Canada took home the Gold medal at the 2013 IIHF Under-18 World Championship, defeating the United States 3-2 in the Gold medal game on Sunday, April 28th, in Sochi, Russia.
Madison Bowey of the Kelowna Rockets notched a goal in the Gold medal win while Laurent Dauphin and Frederik Gauthier also counted for the Canadian side, who claim the Gold medal in the event for the first time since 2008.
Philippe Desrosiers turned in a 33-save performance to earn the victory for Canada, which got outshot 35-12 by the Americans in the contest.
Canada had seven WHL players on its roster for the tournament.
