PREVIEW: Pats travel to Prince Albert and face undefeated Raiders
Regina, Sask. –The Regina Pats make their way to Prince Albert tonight to take on the Raiders at the Art Hauser Centre. It’s the second of eight meetings between the two clubs this season, as the Pats look to hand the Raiders their first regulation loss of the year and bounce back from a hard-fought overtime defeat on Monday.

PREVIEW
The Pats are coming off a 4-3 overtime loss to the Kamloops Blazers on Thanksgiving Monday at the Brandt Centre. Regina rallied from a 2-0 deficit to take the lead in the third period, but Kamloops tied the game late and scored the winner in overtime. Julien Maze led the way with a goal and an assist, while Zach Lansard and Caden Brown also found the back of the net. he Pats outshot Kamloops 36-32, went 0-for-3 on the power play, and finished 4-for-5 on the penalty kill.
Meanwhile, Prince Albert continued its strong start to the 2025-26 campaign with a 5-2 victory over Kamloops last Friday, extending their winning streak to five games. The Raiders jumped out to a commanding 3-0 lead less than five minutes into the first period, getting goals from Evan Smith, Justice Christensen, and Max Heise. Riley Boychuk scored his first of the season midway through the second period to restore the Raiders’ four-goal cushion after Kamloops had struck.
The Raiders, who captured the East Division title last season with a 39-23-5-1 record, have once again established themselves as one of the WHL’s top teams early in the year. Regina will aim to slow down Prince Albert’s high-powered attack, and limit them to three goals or less.
The goaltending tandem is now set with Kelton Pyne being dealt to the Vancouver Giants on Thursday following a five year career with the Pats. Rookie Taylor Tabashniuk and 19-year-old Marek Schlenker will take the reins between the pipes for the Pats.
Tonight marks the second of eight meetings between the Pats and Raiders this season. Regina went 2-4-0-2 against Prince Albert in 2024-25, with four of those games decided in overtime or a shootout. Over their last 12 head-to-head matchups, the Pats hold a 4-6-0-2 record, while being outscored 29-14 during last season’s series.
PLAYER TO WATCH
Forward Julien Maze continues to lead the Pats offensively, recording nine points (4G-5A) in seven games this season, including goals in four of his last five contests. The Edmonton, Alta. product also notched a career-high four points (1G-3A) earlier this season. Rookie forwards Maddox Schultz and Liam Pue were recognized this week by Hockey Canada, being named to Canada White for the upcoming 2025 World Under-17 Hockey Challenge in Truro, N.S.
COMING UP
The Pats return home on Saturday, October 18 to host the Brandon Wheat Kings for their annual Cancer Awareness Game at the Brandt Centre. Regina will then welcome the Lethbridge Hurricanes on Wednesday, October 22, before heading out on a two-game Alberta road trip to face Red Deer and Edmonton.
