PREVIEW
The Regina Pats return home tonight to close out a home-and-home set against the Prince Albert Raiders, looking to respond after a tough result in the opening leg on Friday.
The Pats and Raiders met at the Art Hauser Centre on Friday, where Prince Albert skated to a 9–2 victory to take a 3–1 lead in the season series. Jonah Sivertson led the way for the Raiders with a goal and three assists, while Riley Boychuk added a goal and two helpers. Prince Albert’s depth was on full display, as 12 different Raiders recorded at least a point and eight players finished with multi-point performances.
Dimitri Fortin earned his 13th win of the season, stopping 23 shots, while Jace Egland and Zach Moore accounted for Regina’s offence. Pats goaltender Matthew Hutchison faced a heavy workload, allowing nine goals on 35 shots. Special teams also tilted in Prince Albert’s favour, as the Raiders went 2-for-4 on the power play, while the Pats finished 1-for-3.
Friday’s contest marked the first game in the season series not decided by two goals or fewer, a notable departure from what has otherwise been a tightly contested matchup between the East Division rivals.
Tonight, Regina gets a significant boost with the return of Maddox Schultz and Liam Pue, who rejoin the lineup after competing at the Circle K Classic. Schultz was named tournament MVP after leading the event with 14 points (4G–10A) in five games, while Pue finished second in scoring with 13 points (7G–6A) over the same stretch.
