PREVIEW
The Pats are coming off an impressive 5-4 overtime victory in Edmonton on Saturday, where they stormed back from a two-goal deficit in the third period to complete their largest comeback of the season. Veteran forward Caden Brown was the hero, recording his first career WHL hat-trick and netting the overtime winner to cap off a memorable night. Julien Maze added two goals for his sixth straight multi-point performance, while goaltender Taylor Tabashniuk stopped 22 shots to earn his second win of the campaign.
Meanwhile, the Wheat Kings enter tonight’s contest on a two-game winning streak, having outscored their opponents 15-4 over that stretch with decisive victories over Lethbridge (7-0) and Moose Jaw (8-4). Despite that momentum, Brandon has endured a slower-than-expected start to the 2025-26 season, sitting at 4-6-1-0 through 11 games following a strong 2024-25 campaign that saw them finish fifth in the Eastern Conference with 83 points.
Tonight marks the second of eight meetings between the Pats and Wheat Kings this season. Regina took the first matchup 6-4 earlier this month, and will look to build on that success. Last season, the Pats went 2-5-1 against Brandon, with both victories coming in the first half of the year. All-time, this will be the 487th meeting between the two storied franchises, with Regina holding a 212-234-21-14-6 record.
Since a 1-6-1 start, the Pats have found their rhythm, climbing back into contention with three wins in their last four games and now sitting tied for ninth in the Eastern Conference with nine points. Over that stretch, the Blue Brigade has outscored their opponents 19-16, including victories over Brandon (6-4), Lethbridge (6-3), and Edmonton (5-4 OT).
The Pats’ recent success has been fueled by strong individual performances. Caden Brown, named WHL Player of the Week on October 27, posted eight points (5G-3A) and a plus-4 rating in three games. Julien Maze has been red-hot as well, riding a six-game multi-point streak with 13 points (5G-8A) in that span. The Edmonton, Alta. product now sits with 20 points (8G-12A) in 12 games this season, with 19 of those points coming in his last 10 outings.
WHO TO WATCH
Veteran forward and alternate captain Caden Brown has been red-hot to start his overage season, recording seven goals and four assists over his last six games. The 20-year-old has found the scoresheet in four straight contests (6G-4A) and continues to lead by example offensively.
Recently named WHL Player of the Week, Brown’s stretch includes his first career hat-trick and overtime winner on October 25 in Edmonton, along with a career-high four-point night (2G-2A) on October 22 against Lethbridge.
