PREVIEW
The Regina Pats close out their three-game homestand tonight with their third meeting of the season against the Moose Jaw Warriors, looking to secure two crucial points before embarking on a demanding six-game U.S. road trip spanning 12 days.
Regina enters the matchup carrying confidence against their provincial rival, having won both previous meetings this season—5-2 on October 31 and 6-3 on November 8, with both victories coming at the newly rebranded Temple Gardens Centre. In the most recent contest, Caden Brown powered the offence with a five-point performance (3G-2A), while Cohen Klassen has quietly produced against Moose Jaw, totaling four points (1G-3A) through the first two games of the season series. Between the pipes, Marek Schlenker has been rock-solid, posting a .921 save percentage in his two starts versus the Warriors.
The Pats are coming off a tight 4-3 overtime loss to the Medicine Hat Tigers on Friday, a game that extended their point streak to three contests. Regina continues to trend upward with a 7-3-1-1 record over their last 12 games. The matchup remained even through 40 minutes before Medicine Hat’s Kyle Heger ended it in overtime. Schlenker was once again a standout, stopping 38 shots and earning second-star honours. Offensively, Caden Brown scored his team-leading 15th of the campaign, Julien Maze became the fourth Pat to reach double-digit goals, and Zach Moore found the back of the net for the second time since returning from injury.
Moose Jaw enters the contest 3-1-1 over their last five outings and are coming off a narrow 4-3 shootout loss to the Swift Current Broncos on Friday at the InnovationPlex. Ethan Semeniuk, Aiden Ziprick (1G-1A), and Pavel McKenzie supplied the offence, while goaltender Kyle Jones stopped 20 shots in the setback. The Warriors continue to be fueled by captain Lynden Lakovic, who extended his impressive point streak to 12 games with a pair of assists.
With both teams playing strong hockey and each riding positive momentum, tonight’s edition of the Trans-Canada Clash is poised to be fast, physical, and potentially decisive in shaping early-season positioning in the Eastern Conference.
WHO TO WATCH
Ellis Mieyette enters tonight’s game as one of Regina’s hottest and most consistent performers. The 19-year-old forward has picked up nine points over his last nine games (2G-7A), becoming a steady source of offence while playing reliable minutes in all situations. Through 19 contests this season, Mieyette has produced 17 points (5G-12A) and carries a strong +8 rating, reflecting his impact at both ends of the ice. With his confidence growing and his playmaking clicking, Mieyette is a key player to watch as the Pats look to extend their momentum.
