PREVIEW: Pats Host Hitmen In 2022 Teddy Bear Toss Game At Brandt Centre
Regina, Sask. – The Regina Pats host the Calgary Hitmen in their 26th all-time Teddy Bear Toss game inside the Brandt Centre at 7:00 p.m.
The Pats are coming off a 3-2 win over the Prince Albert Raiders on Friday at the Art Hauser Centre, concluding their stretch of 10 games away from home. Stanislav Svozil opened the scoring with his fifth of the season while Riley Ginnell scored twice in the Pats third straight win. Drew Sim made 25 saves for his fifth straight win. The final shots were 27-19 for the Raiders. The Pats were 3-4 on their penalty kill and were not awarded a power play.
Meanwhile, the Calgary Hitmen are coming off a 9-2 loss to the Moose Jaw Warriors on the road last night, snapping their two game winning-streak. Th Hitmen got goals from Sean Tschigerl and Carter Yakemchuk in the loss. Both Brayden Peters and Ethan Buenaventura saw time between the pipes on Friday, as Peters allowed five goals on 18 shots and Buenaventura gave up four goals on 19 shots. The final shots were 37-29 for the Warriors. The Hitmen were 1-3 on their power play and 3-5 on their penalty kill.
The Calgary Hitmen are coming off a 25-34-7-2 season with 59 points, which was tied for ninth in the Eastern Conference standings with Regina and Swift Current, missing the playoffs by two points. The Hitmen were last in the playoffs in the 2018-19 season when they lost in the conference-semis, as they were swept by Edmonton.
