PREVIEW: Pats, Broncos meet Monday night
REGINA – The Regina Pats return to East Division Hub action Monday night, hoping to continue their recent success against the Swift Current Broncos.
Regina enters a new week after a deflating performance against the Saskatoon Blades Friday night. A 7-3 loss, which saw the Pats outshot 47-27, abruptly ended the Regiment’s hopes of inking their first winning streak of the season.

Connor Bedard’s sixth goal of the campaign was one of the lone bright spots in the loss, as the Pats look to run their winning streak against Swift to four games.
Regina earned a win March 17th against the Broncos, extending their winning streak to three games dating back to February 7, 2020.

Roddy Ross gets the start in goal for Regina. Ross enters the night with an .830 save percentage in 283 minutes played and is still looking for his first win with the Pats since being traded to the team in the midst of the COVID-19 layoff.
While Regina hopes for more from their starting netminder, the same can be said for the majority of goalies inside the Hub. Goaltending hasn’t been a strong point at the Brandt Centre this season, as the seven teams have combined for an .881 save percentage, and not a single club has a team save percentage over .900.
Monday night’s game marks the first of four games this week for the Pats, with matchups against Moose Jaw (March 31), Brandon (April 1), and Winnipeg (April 3) up next.

BY THE NUMBERS
- Regina comes into the game with a three-game win streak against the Broncos. Swift Current is the only East Division team the Pats have an active win streak against.
- The Pats went 0-for-3 against Saskatoon on the power play Friday night. It was the third time this season Regina had failed to score at least once on the power play. The Regiment’s first meeting with Swift Current and the Pats loss to Winnipeg were the others.
- Swift Current has yielded the most shots against inside the East Division Hub, surrendering 334 through nine games.
- Matthew Ward has emerged as key offensive piece for the Broncos. The 2004-born rookie has 10 points through nine games this season and is second in WHL rookie scoring.
- Connor Bedard has points in his first eight career WHL games. Bedard scored his sixth of the season last time out against Saskatoon.
