GAME PREVIEW
The Pats will look to bounce back after a tough 8-5 loss in Brandon on Saturday, while the visiting Hitmen enter the night as one of the hottest teams in the WHL.
The Pats are back on home ice to begin a key stretch in their early-season schedule. Regina split its weekend games, earning a 5-2 win in Moose Jaw on Friday before falling short against the Wheat Kings a night later. The Pats exploded out of the gate with a three-goal first period and carried a 4-3 lead into the third, but the Wheat Kings responded with four unanswered goals to complete the comeback.
Zach Lansard scored twice, while Caden Brown (1G-1A), Aiden Wagner, and Ellis Mieyette also found the back of the net. Regina went 1-for-3 on the power play and 2-for-3 on the penalty kill, while being outshot 43-35.
Meanwhile, Calgary (10-3-1-0) continues to roll. The Hitmen enter tonight riding a six-game winning streak, including a 3-1 victory over Brandon on Sunday afternoon. The game marks the third stop on Calgary’s six-game East Division road trip, and the team has shown few signs of slowing down.
Last season, the Pats went 0-4 against Calgary, snapping what had been a seven-game winning streak in the series dating back to 2023-24. Over their last 22 meetings, Regina is 9-9-4 against the Hitmen, with many of those matchups being tightly contested battles decided by a goal or less.
BETWEEN THE PIPES
The Pats are adjusting to a change in goal following the injury to starter Taylor Tabashniuk, who suffered a lower-body injury on October 29 and is expected to miss 4-6 weeks. To bolster their depth, the team acquired 2006-born goaltender Matthew Hutchison from the Moose Jaw Warriors on November 1.
Marek Schlenker is expected to carry the load in net during Tabashniuk’s absence, while Hutchison provides an experienced backup presence as the Pats navigate a busy November schedule.
WHO TO WATCH
Former Hitmen forward Keets Fawcett has been one of the Pats’ top offensive performers early this season. The 19-year-old from Grimshaw, Alta. has recorded 13 points (8G-5A) in 14 games — already closing in on his goal total from last year.
Fawcett has been particularly hot of late, posting four points (2G-2A) in his last two games, including a three-point performance (2G-1A) in Moose Jaw on October 31. Since joining the Pats from Calgary in November 2024 as part of the Tanner Howe trade, Fawcett has emerged as a key part of Regina’s top-six forward group.

The Regina Pats play three games in three nights this weekend for the one and only time this season…the Pats will open the weekend with a contest against the Red Deer Rebels on Friday…the Pats will take on Moose Jaw on Saturday on the road before returning home for a matchup with Swift Current on Sunday.
