Pats Sign Czech Forward Matyas Ubl
Regina, Sask. — The Regina Pats Hockey Club has signed 2007-born forward Matyas Ubl to a WHL Scholarship and Development Agreement.
“We’re happy to finally get Matyas under contract and are looking forward to him joining our team for the second half of the season,” said Regina Pats GM Dale Derkatch. “He’s a player with good size, skill and skating ability that should strengthen our forward group.”
Ubl, 18, joins the Pats after recording 27 points (12 goals, 15 assists) in 30 games with HC Plzeň U20 this season. The 6-foot-3, 190-pound right-shot forward was selected by Regina in the second round (68th overall) of the 2025 CHL Import Draft, following a strong showing with HC Plzeň, where he produced 16 points (six goals, 10 assists) in 26 games.
The Czech native has also represented Czechia at two international tournaments, totaling six points (one goal, five assists) at the 2023 U17 Hockey Challenge, and adding a goal in two games at the 2025 IIHF World U18 Championship.
