Pats Prospect Update: Oct. 7, 2024
Regina, Sask. – Each week, we will highlight some of the impressive performances from players in the Regina Pats prospect pool. Today, we highlight five players who have gotten off to some notable starts this season.
Jett Deschamps | 2008-born Defenceman | RINK HA Winnipeg U18 Prep
Deschamps, 16, has gotten off to a great start this season, recording seven points (2G-5A) in four games. On September 28, Deschamps tallied four points (1G-3A) and recently followed that up with a goal on October 2. Last season, the Headingley, Man. product tallied 20 points (3G-17A) in 30 games. The 5-foot-9, 148 lb. left-shot defenceman was drafted in the fifth round of the 2023 WHL Prospects Draft.
Carter Haney | 2008-born Forward | RINK HA Winnipeg U18 Prep
Haney, 16, has picked up eight points (3G-5A) in four games this season, highlighted by a four point contest (1G-3A) on September 28. Last season, Haney was named a U17 Prep Tier 2 First Team All-Star. The Winnipeg, Man. product tallied 48 points (24G-24A) in 30 games, leading his team in scoring. The 5-foot-10, 176 lb. right-shot forward was drafted by the Pats in the sixth round of the 2023 WHL Prospects Draft.
Mathis Paull | 2009-born Forward | RINK HA Kelowna U18 Prep
Paull, 15, has opened up his 2024-25 season with eight points (3G-5A) in four games. Most recently, the 6-1, 184 lb. left winger tallied four points (2G-2A) versus the Wenatchee Wild U18 AAA team on October 6. The Vernon, B.C., product was selected by the Pats with the 48th pick of the 2024 WHL Prospects Draft, racking up 34 points (16G-18A) in 27 games in 2023-24 with the Rink H.A. Kelowna U15 Prep team, where he was second on his squad in points.
Owen Sejna | 2009-born Forward | Lafayette Locomotives 16U AA
Sejna, 15, has put up video game like numbers this season with 36 points (10G-26A) in 13 games. The Lafayette, CO product tallied 237 points (59G-178A) in 61 games in 2023-24 with the Lafayette Locomotives 14U AA squad, leading all U14 AA players in assists and points. The 5-foot-10, 144 lb. left-shot forward was listed by the Pats in early September and signed on September 16.
Camden Zaporzan | 2009-born Forward | Shattuck St. Mary’s 15U AAA
Zaporzan, 15, has 17 points (7G-10A) in 11 games this season. The Anchorage, Alaska product played for Shattuck St. Mary’s 14U AAA team in 2023-24, compiling 50 points (18G-32A) in 57 games. The 5-foot-6, 150 lb. right-shot forward was drafted by the Pats in the second round (#25) of the 2024 U.S. Priority Draft.
