Nine Pats Alumni on 2024 Calder Cup Playoffs rosters
Regina, Sask. – It’s that time of year. NHL Playoffs got underway this past weekend, with three Pats alumni on Stanley Cup Playoff rosters, and the 2024 Calder Cup Playoffs begin on Tuesday, April 23.
Nine Pats alumni play play for the Calder Cup beginning tomorrow, with Cale Fleury, Ryker Evans, Cameron Hebig, Adam Brooks, Stanislav Svozil, Jake Leschyshyn, Dawson Barteaux, Tyson Feist and Logan Nijhoff on playoff rosters.
Cale Fleury | Coachella Valley Firebirds
Fleury, 25, tallied 36 points (7G-29A) in 65 games this past season with the Coachella Valley Firebirds, the Seattle Kraken’s AHL affiliate. The Firebirds finished first in the Pacific Division (46-15-6-5, 103 points) and have a bye to the Pacific Division Semifinals.
The Calgary, Alta. product also played one NHL game this season with the Kraken and 12 games last season. Over his NHL career, the 6-foot-1, 212 lb. right-shot defenceman has played 63 games (1G-1A) split between Montreal and Seattle. Throughout his AHL career, Fleury has tallied 103 points (25G-78A) in 219 games.
Fleury played for the Pats during the 2017-18 season, recording 41 points (6G-35A) in 51 games after being acquired from the Kootenay ICE.
Ryker Evans | Coachella Valley Firebirds
Evans, 22, split the 2023-24 season with the Seattle Kraken and the Firebirds, recording nine points (1G-8A) in 36 NHL games as well as 15 points (2G-13A) in 25 AHL games. The Calgary, Alta. product spent the 2022-23 season with the Firebirds, recording 44 points (6G-38A) in 71 games, as well as 26 points (5G-21A) in 26 playoff games, helping his club reach the Calder Cup Final. The 6-foot, 192 lb. left-shot defenceman is a two time AHL All-Star. Last season he led all rookies in assists and was named to the AHL All-Rookie Team.
Evans spent four seasons with the Pats, recording 25 goals, 106 assists for 131 points in 195 career games, ranking 13th in franchise history in assists amongst defencemen and 19th in points.
Cameron Hebig | Tucson Roadrunners
Hebig, 27, completed his fourth season with the Roadrunners, the Arizona Coyotes AHL affiliate, recording an AHL career best 32 points (12G-20A) in 61 games. The Roadrunners ended their season second in the Pacific Division (43-23-4-2, 92 points) and will play the Calgary Wranglers in the Pacific Division first round.
The Saskatoon, Sask. product has now compiled 122 points (51G-71A) in 317 career AHL games over the last six seasons. The 5-foot-10, 183 lb. right-shot forward played 26 games for the Pats (11G-21A-32PTS) during the 2017-18 season after coming over via trade from the Saskatoon Blades.
Adam Brooks | Lehigh Valley Phantoms
Brooks, 27, picked up 25 points (13G-12A) in 47 games this past season with the Lehigh Valley Phantoms, which is the AHL affiliate of the Philadelphia Flyers. The Phantoms will play Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins in the Atlantic Division first round after finishing sixth in their division (32-31-6-3, 73 points).
The Winnipeg, Man. product played in the NHL from 2019-2022, playing in 43 career games (6G-5A) split between the Toronto Maple Leafs, Montreal Canadiens, Vegas Golden Knights and Winnipeg Jets. Over his AHL career, the 6-foot, 179 lb. left-shot forward has tallied 155 points (65G-90A) in 270 games over the last seven years.
Brooks played for the Pats from 2012-2017, scoring 335 points (119G-216A) in 317 games. In the record books, Brooks is third all-time in Pats history in games played (317), sixth in assists (216), and 11th in points (335), while being one of seven players to record consecutive 120+ point seasons in franchise history.
Stanislav Svozil | Cleveland Monsters
Svozil, 21, recorded 23 points (5G-18A) in 57 games in his rookie season with the Cleveland Monsters, the AHL affiliate of the Columbus Blue Jackets. The Monsters finished their season with the best record in the North Division (40-24-5-3, 88 points) and have a bye to the North Division Semifinals.
The Blue Jackets 2021 third-round pick became the 164th Regina Pats player all-time to reach the NHL, making his debut with the Columbus Blue Jackets on April 13 against the Pittsburgh Penguins where he picked up an assist on the clubs tying goal for his first career NHL point.
The Prerov, Czechia product had 78 points (11G-67A) in 56 games with the Pats last season, as well as 13 points (4G-9A) in seven playoff games. His 78 points was the 10th-highest single season point total by a Pats defenceman in franchise history. His 67 assists are tied for the fifth-highest all-time in team history and his 1.39 points-per-game rank fourth all-time in Pats history.
Jake Leschyshyn | Hartford Wolfpack
Leschyshyn, 25, notched 19 points (8G-11A) in 47 games with the Hartford Wolf Pack, the New York Rangers AHL affiliate. The Wolfpack finished fifth in the Atlantic Division (34-28-7-3, 78 points) and will play the Charlotte Checkers in the Atlantic Division first round.
The Raleigh, NC product also played one NHL game this season with the Rangers and has played 77 NHL games over the last three seasons, recording six points (2G-4A). He’s also tallied 80 career points (37G-43A) across 202 games over the past six seasons in the AHL.
The 5-foot-11, 190 lb. left-shot forward played for the Pats from 2014-2019, scoring 131 points (61G-70) in 213 career games with Regina. He was an alternate captain for the Pats during the 2017-18 season in which the Pats went all the way to the Memorial Cup Final. He began the 2018-19 season with the Pats as the 78th captain in franchise history before being traded along with Nick Henry to the Lethbridge Hurricanes in exchange for a pair of players, two first round picks, a third, fourth and an eighth rounder. For the Pats, the two first rounders turned into defenceman Layton Feist and Connor Bedard, while the third rounder turned into Zane Rowan.
Dawson Barteaux | Manitoba Moose
Barteaux, 24, finished the season with 17 points (5G-12A) in 43 games with the Manitoba Moose, the Winnipeg Jets AHL affiliate. The Foxwarren, Man. product spent the last three years of his AHL career with the Texas Stars after he was drafted by the Dallas Stars in the sixth round of the 2018 NHL Entry Draft.
The 6-foot-1, 190 lb. right-shot defenceman was drafted by the Pats in the first round of the 2015 WHL Prospects Draft and was later traded to the Red Deer Rebels on January 10, 2017 for Josh Mahura, Jeff de Wit and a third round pick.
Tyson Feist | Syracuse Crunch
Feist, 23, split the 2023-24 season between the Chicago Wolfs of the AHL and Orlando Solar Bears of the ECHL before finishing it with the Crunch, the AHL affiliate of the Tampa Bay Lightning. The Crunch will face off against the Rochester Americans in the North Division semifinals after finishing third in the North Division (39-24-4-5, 87 points).
The Dawson Creek, B.C., product tallied seven points (1G-6A) in 34 games this season. The 6-foot-2, 181 lb. right-shot defenceman played for the Pats from 2019-2020, and played for three different teams during his WHL career, beginning with the Spokane Chiefs and finishing with the Kelowna Rockets.
Logan Nijhoff | Rockford IceHogs
Nijhoff, 22, scored four goals in 31 games with the Icehogs, the Chicago Blackhawks AHL affiliate. The IceHogs finished third in the Central Division (39-26-5-2, 85 points) and will play the Grand Rapids Griffins in the Central Division semifinals.
The Comox, B.C., product began his professional career last season, playing for the AHL’s San Diego Gulls and later the ECHL’s Indy Fuel and Tulsa Oilers. The 6-foot, 187 lb. left-shot forward played his entire five year WHL career with the Pats from 2017-2022, recording 123 points (61G-62A) in 231 games, serving as team captain from 2020-22.
