WHO TO WATCH
The Regina Pats didn’t register a goal on the scoresheet on Friday, but received strong chances from throughout the lineup with players like Dru Mushumanski, Sam Oremba, Matteo Michels and Jaxsin Vaughan providing the majority of the shots.
With the lineup not determined just yet, Pats fans should keep an eye out for some of the younger players on the roster, in particular Cole Temple who plays in his hometown tonight. With Pyne getting the nod in net last night, expect Ewan Huet to get the start for his Pats debut today.
For the Wheat Kings, Jaxson Jacobson seemed to be their focal point offensively on Friday, getting him the puck for chances on their five power plays, where they were held off the board. The Brandon, Man. product produced 60 points (24G-36A) in 44 contests last season with the Brandon Wheat Kings U18 AAA program playing as an under-ager, leading to being selected with the fifth-overall pick of the 2023 WHL Prospects Draft.
The Wheat Kings were without top players; Nate Danielson, Brett Hyland and Carson Bjarnason, as well as young stars Roger McQueen, Quinn Mantei and Charlie Elick last night. Danielson and Bjarnason are currently at NHL camps so don’t expect them to be in the lineup tonight.
