GAME DAY: Oil Kings vs Tigers in Game 1 TONIGHT
Edmonton, AB – The Oil Kings continue their quest for back to back Ed Chynoweth Cups with a second round matchup against the Medicine Hat Tigers. Medicine Hat is fresh off a 4-game sweep of the Memorial Cup host Saskatoon Blades. This match up features a head to head duel between former Oil Kings goaltender Cam Lanigan and current Oil Kings goaltender Laurent Brossoit. Brossoit was recently selected as the CHL Goaltender of the week for the week ending March 31st. Ironically, Lanigan was chosen as the recipient of this honour the week prior. >> VIDEO
Another intriguing match up will feature a pair of highly touted NHL draft prospects in Medicine Hat’s Hunter Shinkaruk and Edmonton’s Curtis Lazar. Both these forwards are anticipated to be selected in the first round of the 2013 NHL Entry Draft. >> VIDEO
Game time for Game 1 is set for 7:00 p.m. with doors opening at 6:00 p.m. Advance ticket prices in the second round of the playoffs will start at just $20. Fans are encouraged to purchase their tickets in advance to save compared to ‘day of game’ pricing. The Oil Kings will be hosting a pair of very special guests Friday night. Local hero Adam Shaw and his dog Rocky will be guests of honour to kick off the second round in style. The Fort Saskatchewan resident and his dog were recently recognized for their incredible rescue efforts saving a pair of young children from the North Saskatchewan River this past week.
