Seven Canes off to camps

rIt isn’t Canaan, but you can bet that seven Lethbridge Hurricanes would love to see their exodus to pro training camps end up in the land of milk of honey this year.
rSeven Hurricanes are off to National Hockey League camps over the next week, joining 108 of their Western Hockey League brethren at professional tryouts. Each of those players are hoping to never see their junior town again.
rThat’s not to say Ben Wright, Dwight King, Colton Sceviour, Mitch Fadden, Zach Boychuk and Luca Sbisa don’t like Lethbridge. They do, but let’s face it, they all want to go to The Show.
r“That’s the goal, for sure,” said Boychuk, who is almost a lock to return. “I mean, with my situation, it’s a little different but I’m still going in there to show them I can play at that level.”
rA wrist surgery shortly after the Carolina Hurricanes drafted him 14th overall means Boychuk is still facing some rehab. He will participate in skating drills but not exhibition games at camp due to the injury, which he is scheduled to return from sometime in October.
rBoychuk heads to camp as the Hurricanes’ top draft pick, a fortunate son. He doesn’t need to tell anyone who he is, they’ll know.
rFor teammate Carter Bancks, he’s headed to the Atlanta Thrashers’ Traverse City prospects camp as an unknown.
