The Lethbridge Hurricanes have a big night planned to close out their regular season home games. The Hurricanes will play their final regular season game at home this Friday, April 15th against the Moose Jaw Warriors. Prior to puck drop, the Hurricanes will present this season’s team awards in a special pre-game ceremony. Be sure to be in your seats as the ceremony begins at 7:00p.m. Later that evening, the Lethbridge Hurricanes will be hosting a live jersey auction on ice immediately after the game. The jerseys up for auction are this year’s new thirds – the game-worn cream jerseys.
The third jerseys were introduced to fans at this season’s home opener on Friday, October 1st, 2021. After 579 days since the last fan-attended game at the ENMAX Centre due to COVID-19, the Hurricanes thumped the Calgary Hitmen 9-2. It was a notable outing led by co-captain, Jett Jones who scored the team’s first goal just 1:39 into the opening frame.
After having played a 24-game season with no fans the previous year, the boys were buzzing at the ENMAX Centre. Former Hurricane, Noah Boyko, recorded a hat trick while teammate, Justin Hall, added a goal and four assists to be named the opening night’s first star of the game. Goaltender, Bryan Thomson, made 41 saves on 43 shots to open the season.
It was a three-stars sweep on November 26th as the ‘Canes played host to the Edmonton Oil Kings in what would become their first of two wins over the Oil Kings in the season series. In a thrilling game that saw the Hurricanes victorious with a 3-2 score, Assistant Captain, Justin Hall scored twice while Alex Thacker added another and yet again, Bryan Thompson stood tall in net to secure the win.
The Lethbridge Hurricanes first round pick from the 2021 WHL Draft, Miguel Marques made his WHL debut in the Hurricanes alternate jerseys. Drafted 10th overall on December 9th, 2021 Marques donned the cream jersey and stepped onto the ENMAX Centre ice less than 36-hours after hearing his name called via the virtual draft. Though he did not score that game, he recorded three shots on goal and made his presence known; he was ready to play.
Many more memories have been created while the Hurricanes donned their alternate cream jerseys and now is your chance to own a piece of history. Join the Hurricanes for their Jerseys Off Our Backs live auction immediately following the game on Friday, April 15th against the Moose Jaw Warriors. The auction will take place at the north end of the ice, fans wishing to partake or watch the auction are asked to seat themselves in Sections H, I, J, K, and L after the game.
