Hurricanes Preparing for Hockey Canada Camps
Lethbridge, AB – The Lethbridge Hurricanes Hockey Club will be well represented at Hockey Canada camps in the coming weeks. A total of three current players, two prospects and three coaches will be attending either the Under-20, Under-18 or Under-17 camps.
Hurricanes head coach Brent Kisio was named an Assistant Coach for Canada’s World Junior team earlier this month. He is preparing for the Sport Chek World Junior Showcase slated to begin in Kamloops on Saturday, July 28th. Hurricanes defenseman Calen Addison will also be taking part in the U-20 camp while ‘Canes Captain Jordy Bellerive, who was named to the showcase, will be unable to partake in the camp but will be in attendance.
Standout rookie from last season, Dylan Cozens, will be at Canada’s Men’s Summer Under-18 camp beginning Saturday, July 28th in Calgary at Winsport in preparation for the Hlinka Gretzky Cup which is slated to take place in Edmonton and Red Deer from August 6 to 11. Also attending the U-18 camp will be Hurricanes Assistant Coach Andrew Doty who will serve as Canada’s Video Coach for the tournament. Doty has represented Canada at the World Under-17 Hockey Challenge each of the past two years.
While the ‘Canes have three representatives at Canada’s National Under-17 development camp in Calgary which is ongoing. Prospects Noah Boyko and Bryan Thomson are both in attendance fighting for spots while Hurricanes Assistant Coach Jeff Hansen is at the camp as he will be attending the World Under-17 Hockey Challenge as a Video Coach for Canada Black. Hansen served as a Video Coach for Canada at the 2017 World Under-17 Hockey Challenge last year.
